What time of day do you usually schedule your workouts?
Before work? During your lunch break? After work?
Studies show that timing of your workouts can play a role in how effective they are. Of course, the most important thing is that you do it versus trying to figure out what time of day you should do it. But, if you're looking to improve your performance, timing may play a role.
Personally, I've always preferred morning workouts to evening workouts. I prefer it because I can get it done and get on with my day. Those who schedule their workouts in the morning tend to be more consistent. Why? The day doesn't get in their way! You also don't get a chance to think about it. Your body doesn't either & exercise can help to wake you up.
PRO-TIP: If you schedule your workouts in the AM and need an extra boost of energy, strength, and/or power, I highly recommend Naked Nutrition Energy , a natural pre-workout supplement with no additives or artificial sweeteners. This is what I add to my Blender Bottle before every workout!
BUT...Do you know when the BEST time to workout is? ⬇️
Human performance is typically better in the evenings compared to mornings because you don't use as much oxygen, making workouts more efficient. Studies have found muscle strength, endurance, flexibility, & power output are improved between 2-6 pm.
However, the BEST time for you really depends on your goals -
🔸If you wish to break the world record, or your personal time, evenings are better. 🔸If your goal is more about your weight and controlling your blood sugar — and less about shaving a minute or two from their marathon time — you might go for mornings, when post-workout cell responses that influence metabolism are much stronger.
Remember, at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you do it!
